The European Court of Justice confirmed that Google has not infringed trade mark law by allowing advertisers to bid for competitor trade mark keywords. Google aims to ensure that adverts on its Google Adwords platform are valuable and relevant to Google users. This ruling is very important to Google, as it enables Adwords advertisers to bid on keywords that have competitor trade marks.
However, Google does not allow the adverts themselves to feature such competitor trade marks.
